  • Tin Drum was founded in 2003 by Steven Chan, a visionary leader with a dream of bringing the flavors and energy of Hong Kong’s famed sidewalk cafes to America. Inspired by his urban upbringing in the upbeat, fast-paced Asian culture, he created Tin Drum as a tribute to his childhood.
  • The name “Tin Drum” is derived from the Asian legend of the Tin Drummer, a young man who became an unsung hero as he used his tin drum to gather the entire village at the central café and make a difference in his community. This story sets the foundation for Tin Drum, a place where people can come together to enjoy delicious and comforting food by our staff of Tin Drummers.
  • Tin Drum Asian Kitchen opened in 2003 on the campus of Georgia Tech University, Steven’s alma mater.
  • By 2010, we had grown to 6 corporate locations in the Atlanta metro area and launched franchising to provide an opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to enter the restaurant industry.
