Mr. Rooter began in 1970 in Oklahoma City when David Duck founded a company named Mr. Rooter Plumbing. In 1989, Duck sold Mr. Rooter Plumbing to Don Dwyer, the founder of Neighborly (then called Dwyer Group). Duck still maintains the very first Mr. Rooter business he founded in Oklahoma City and continues to own multiple Mr. Rooter franchises.
