About FocusCFO
What We Do:
FocusCFO provides fractional (or part time) CFO Services, primarily to small and medium size businesses with revenues in the $2 million to $30 million range. With over 80 associates in Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Tennessee, FocusCFO is by far the largest team oriented fractional CFO company in our market. Area Presidents: Lead our sales and marketing process and network extensively with local bankers, CPAs, attorneys, business coaches and other trusted advisors. Area Presidents are extremely active in their local area with marketing and educational events, helping the business community understand the benefits a CFO brings to a business – especially to small and medium size business. CFOs: work directly with business owners in a true CFO role, working onsite as a member of the management team under a long term, fractional arrangement (i.e. one day a week per client). CFOs are actively involved in driving internal cash flow, working with outside bankers and advisors, driving profitability and gross margin, and helping create business value for business owners.

FocusCFO Training Philosophy One of our Core Values is that each associate will be a Continuous Learner. Ongoing training and education is a big part of what we believe in at FocusCFO. Each AP and CFO on the FocusCFO team is asked to continually invest in their own self improvement. This includes not only embracing the training platform we have developed at FocusCFO, but also attending relevant third-party training programs, staying current by reading applicable business books and articles, and expanding our personal horizons. It is all part of the FocusCFO pathway towards success You will have full access to our industry leading, proprietary training program and resources which have been developed based on our work as an industry leader in the CFO Services industry. We have ongoing collaboration and support from the other APs and CFOs throughout FocusCFO. We operate as a team and each of our associates are committed to helping each other succeed. You start on Day 1 learning and working proven processes in the critical areas of group marketing, business development and client delivery.
History
FocusCFO was started in Columbus, Ohio, in September 2001 by Brad Martyn. Compared to other long-established and mature service offerings like attorneys, bankers, and CPAs, the CFO services industry is relatively new, with its roots starting in the 1970s and 80s. From the beginning, FocusCFO has always been viewed positively by trusted business advisors. We have worked hard to be a friend to all and we have many strong alliances across the midwest and beyond.
Ideal Candidate
Successful Area Presidents tend to fit the following profile: Looking for balance between professional, family and personal interests. Either a successful entrepreneur who has managed and exited their business, or a successful professional who has supported entrepreneurial business owners throughout their career. Financially secure but looking for a new challenge. Want to leave a legacy and help others be successful by working with entrepreneurs and help them succeed. Wired for networking, especially with bankers, attorneys, CPAs and other trusted business advisors. At least 20 years business experience with a desire to work for at least 10 or more years. Those who are a good fit will recognize it immediately. This is not a traditional W2 opportunity, so those with a W2 mentality or a lack of entrepreneurial drive and spirit should not inquire. CFOs that have the most success being part of FocusCFO: Have experience and are comfortable working with entrepreneurial and closely held business in the $2M to $30M annual revenue range. Have the expertise and ability to help clients maximize cash flow and profitability and to provide insight into where they are making money and where they are not. Are great listeners and exceptional communicators to develop long-term relationships as trusted advisors with our clients. Enjoy working with business owners who value your experience/expertise. Are lifetime learners, with a continuing desire to expand their skills and grow. 20+ years of senior management and significant CFO-level experience Great interpersonal skills and ability to work directly with business owners and entrepreneurs. The ability to communicate in an articulate and open manner. Know how to add value and have the confidence to inspire others and bring about positive change. Experience working with businesses (under $30 million in sales) is very helpful.
