Overview

The Andy's Frozen Custard business model is that of a quick-service dessert restaurant. Stores include proprietary equipment for making premium frozen custard using top-quality ingredients. The frozen custard is only sold to customers within one hour of being made, ensuring a smooth texture and rich taste. Frozen custard is available in scoops, cones, sundaes, and "concretes" with candies, nuts, or fruit blended in. The menu also includes shakes, malts, and old-fashioned soda drinks made to order from seltzer and flavored syrup. Most stores also sell other desserts, including brownies, cookies, shortcake, and fruit pies. These treats are baked daily in each store. Along with a standard menu of frozen custard flavors, stores offer seasonal varieties, such as Strawberry Shortcake Sundaes.

Andy's Frozen Custard makes a clear distinction between its product and ice cream. Though both are made with cream, sugar, and flavorings, frozen custard is churned more slowly to prevent air from entering the mixture. Frozen custard tends to be creamier and richer than ice cream, which has a fluffier texture due to the additional air in the mix.

Andy's Frozen Custard advertises a fun, family-friendly atmosphere, and stores are open all year long. Many locations have patio seating that is heated in the winter to encourage sales even in cold weather. Exceptional customer service is another hallmark of the brand. Customers can enjoy a satisfaction guarantee that provides a free replacement treat upon request.

Why Choose Us?

Andy's Frozen Custard has been in the business for over 30 years, studying both company-owned and franchised locations to perfect a precise business model. The brand is built on high-quality premium frozen custard, and the franchisor gives entrepreneurs access to proprietary equipment, ingredients, and mixes. This business could be a good choice for franchisees who wish to operate multiple units within the agreed-upon development area. This multi-unit setup can allow a franchisee to become engaged and well-known in his or her community.

Ideal Candidate

Ideal candidates are those who have the means and desire to invest and operate in the competitive frozen dessert market. Additionally, candidates should have the resources and drive to develop an available territory under a multi-unit agreement. The franchisor seeks entrepreneurs who will follow the set business model and be willing to work during peak sales hours: nights and weekends.

History

John and Carol Kuntz opened the first Andy's Frozen Custard in Osage Beach, Missouri in March 1986. Their goal for the brand was to satisfy customers with exceptional service and premium frozen custard. Andy, John and Carol's son, and his wife worked for years at this original location, innovating and growing the business. In August 2003, Andy's Frozen Custard Franchising, LLC incorporated. In January 2004, the corporation began offering Andy's Frozen Custard Store franchises.

Andy's Frozen Custard Franchising, LLC has two affiliates. Andy's Frozen Custard, Inc. (AFCI) is the legal entity that has operated at least one Andy's Frozen Custard location since 1986. AFCI provides franchisees with specific products and supplies necessary for operating Andy's Frozen Custard franchises. The other affiliate is Andy's Frozen Custard Stores, LLC (AFCS). Formerly known as Andy's Frozen Custard Chicago, LLC, AFCS has operated various Andy's Frozen Custard locations since 2010.

Training And Support

The franchisee and a manager will receive approximately four weeks of mandatory training prior to the opening of the first store in the development area. Training may occur at the franchisor's facility in Springfield, Missouri and/or at a designated operating Andy's Frozen Custard location.
