P.V. Surf Camp has been serving the South Bay area for 24 years. The camp is located in the affluent community of Palos Verdes Estates. The founder and owner, Leith Emery, is a high school teacher of 30 years, who opened the camp out of his love for the ocean, and desire to share his passion with kids. The beach location is arguably the best in LA County because the waves roll in very gently, perfect for beginners. The location is also very uncrowded, which ensures a safer environment in the water and out of the water.
Owner is a high school teacher and is restricted on the amount of time during school distric calendar. Therefore there is plenty of opportunity for the non summer months. Opportunities include weekend and after school group surf school for intermediate to advanced students, private lessons, corporate events and birthday parties, surf destination trips around the globe, and camps during school holidays.
Camp pricing can and should be raised, as right now PV Surf Camp is the best value and lowest cost camp in the South Bay, West Side and Orange County Markets. They don't offer a full day camp, and that can be added to justify even higher prices.
The camp has been successful strictly through word of mouth with local parents, and school fundraisers. A more aggressive advertising campaign with google and social media will drive the numbers higher.
The camp has a perfect safety record over the 24 years, which is verifiable with LA County Beaches and Harbors, and the local lifeguards always recommended PV Surf Camp over other beach camps because of the quality program, as well as enrolling their own kids because of the confidence they had in the program.
