Business has been in operation for over 25 years, and is part of the community. We have worked hard and have a solid reputation in the biz. I haven't really advertised much as we get many customers from word of mouth. In fact, we have had to restrict the number of daycare dogs we can take in on certain days because of the steady increase in growth. We added on an addition three years ago, and already there is a call for another. There is a one bedroom (easily converted to a 2 bedroom) house with den (Man cave?) in the basement on the lot with the kennel, that can be your home or a rental property. The house is a separate unit and is not attached to the kennel. My son works at the kennel and is very knowledgeable. He is planning on staying when the kennel is sold, as are all the employees. There is a store in the kennel where we sell premium dog food and treats. The picture posted of the store is just before a big delivery, so it looks much more sparse then it usually is. There is currently room on the shelf for a new line of dog food, but I haven't set anything up yet due to the fact that we have decided to sell. I can recommend a couple lines of food I have checked out if you are interested in some input. Kennel has 17 large kennels, (4 of which are double sized and we rent them out for more money as part of a deluxe package. Very popular!), plus 5 cages for smaller dogs. There are 3 separate outdoor play yards. A big draw for the kennel is all the outside time the dogs get. The lot is a little over 3 acres, with most of it a beautiful lawn. There is a storage shed on site that houses the riding lawn mower, the push mower, and other gear. All the contents of the storage shed go to the new buyer. Kennel is heated with radiant floor heating, and comes with central air conditioning. Currently we have no groomer, as ours moved to Central America. If you want to pursue that and set up some grooming revenue, there is a grooming room all set up with table and gear in the kennel. The cash flow seems low right now compared to volume because I am not working at the kennel, and payroll is higher then normal to cover all the needed hours. If you work there, cash flow goes up quite a bit the more you work as your payroll goes down. If you worked just 20 hours a week, you could add over $16,000 to the year end net profit. Or, you could be like me and just sit around and spend the money. :) I have lived for the past year and a half in Florida, with the employees running the kennel, and other then a few trips north to do projects or hire and train a new employee, it has been on auto pilot. We came to Florida to 'snow bird' it, but ended up staying down here full time to help my father. As a result the kennel is not getting the TLC it deserves. It currently provides us with a good income, however, we need to pay off some debts, and I would like to be worry free during those Maine winters, so on the market it goes.
