Overview

TacoTime is an established company that brings almost 60 years of experience to the Mexican restaurant business. Since 1960, TacoTime has offered a varied assortment of fresh, tasty Mexican food. Its menu features staples such as tacos, burritos, nachos and quesadillas. Customers can select components to customize their dishes. TacoTime consistently updates its menus with limited and seasonal items, while keeping its classical offerings at the same level of high quality. The restaurant also offers vegetarian options.

TacoTime prides itself on using proprietary spice blends and sauces to create a stand-out flavor. It also makes most items in-house using fresh ingredients. It stands out among other quick-service restaurants by cooking items such as taco meat and salsa fresh and from scratch.

Why Choose Us?

TacoTime franchisees benefit from the restaurant expertise and management resources of Kahala Brands. Kahala provides highly effective, comprehensive support including training, site selection, promotions, marketing and more.

Currently, TacoTIme is in the process of expanding out of the Northwest and adding new locations throughout the United States. Franchises are available in a variety of prime locations.

Throughout its almost 60-year-old history, TacoTime has gained a devoted following of customers. The Mexican food industry in general is experiencing an upsurge. TacoTime stands out from the competition by providing a unique menu, high-quality food, fresh cooking and proprietary recipes. It combines good food with quick service and a friendly atmosphere.

Franchisees can opt to open a traditional TacoTime restaurant or a walk-up location. Discounts on the initial franchise fee are available for multiple units, as is a veteran discount.

Ideal Candidate

The initial franchise fee for a traditional TacoTime restaurant is $30,000. The fee for a walk-up location is $7,500. Discounts on the initial franchise fee may be available. The estimated investment range is $396,150 to $814,050 for a traditional restaurant and $144,650 to $424,550 for a non-traditional location.

Although TacoTime does not require prior restaurant experience, it prefers franchisees who have proven themselves in a managerial capacity. An ideal franchisee will also be highly motivated, entrepreneurial and willing to follow the TacoTime business model.

History

Ron Fraedrick opened the first TacoTime in 1960. He became inspired by the Mexican food he tasted while traveling in Southern California in the course of his petroleum sales position. He developed a range of proprietary recipes for spice blend and sauces, then opened the first TacoTime location near the University of Oregon. The restaurant proved popular, and soon afterwards expanded to a total of three locations.

In 1962, TacoTime began franchising additional locations throughout the Washington area. The business continued to grow throughout the decade, expanding to 48 locations in seven states by the end of the 60s and to 150 locations by the end of the 70s. In 1978, the franchise opened its first international location in Alberta, Canada. More recently, Kahala Brands, currently a subsidiary of MTY Foods, acquired TacoTime and continues to manage it today.
