Firehouse Subs is a large chain of restaurants with locations throughout the United States. The star of the menu is a selection of hot submarine-style sandwiches. The company prides itself on providing generous servings heaped with meat, cheese and other quality ingredients. It also emphasizes its unique technique of steaming the meat and cheese fillings to bring out their flavor.

Firehouse Subs restaurants also stand out with their firehouse-themed décor and branding. Each location features a unique elaborate firehouse-themed mural. The company also prides itself on its support for first responders. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation funds training, equipment and other support for first responders across America. It has also given grants to specific efforts, such as the clean-up in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria.

Why Choose Us?

Firehouse Subs is a major franchisor with a variety of locations and expanding markets. It has clearly defined branding and continues to enjoy success. In 2018, it received the second-highest score for customer loyalty in the sandwich chain category. Franchisees receive comprehensive training and support, including guidance for marketing and advertisement. The company typically designates an Area Representative who can provide you with ongoing guidance and support.

The company also continues to develop new recipes and update current items. Franchisees benefit from the extensive research and development resources available to create, test and market products.

Ideal Candidate

The company prefers that franchisees or those operating the restaurant live in the area where they plan to open the location. The company would also like to see franchisees operate the business themselves rather than delegate it. However, each application will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and exceptions may be made.

The total investment to open a restaurant typically falls between $160,583 and $843,390. The initial franchise fee is $20,000. Franchisees opening units in certain areas may qualify for discounts under the Market Growth Program; those opening multiple units in those area may be eligible for additional reductions.

Chris and Robin Sorenson opened the first Firehouse Subs restaurant in 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida. The two brothers always knew they wanted to start a business. After a couple of unsuccessful ventures, they found success with their restaurant concept. When they opened their first restaurant, both brothers were firefighters, as their father had been too. This inspired the theme for the restaurant chain as well as the focus on supporting first responders in the company's charitable giving. The company began offering franchises the following year.

Today, Firehouse Subs continues to enjoy widespread success, with over 1,000 locations and continued expansion. The company has received numerous awards, including recognition as one of the top food franchises and one of the fastest growing franchises.
