Edible Arrangements LLC provides franchisees the chance to leverage one of the most well-known names in the gift industry. The company is most famous for its fresh fruit arrangements that are available for delivery to homes and businesses. These arrangements consist primarily of fresh fruit pieces that are cut into unique shapes and arranged together to resemble a traditional floral bouquet. Most arrangements include pineapple, melon, strawberries, and grapes. Some gift items incorporate chocolate-dipped berries and/or bananas. Chocolate-covered fruit gift boxes are also available. These generally include a combination of chocolate-dipped fruit and/or miniature cakes.

In recent years, the company has expanded its business model to incorporate in-store items under the name Edible To Go. These products generally include fresh and chocolate-dipped fruit in small sizes intended for immediate consumption by individual consumers. Other available offerings include parfaits, fruit salads, and smoothies for retail sale.

Edible Arrangements also offers catering options for businesses and private events. Fruit platters are available with or without chocolate-dipped items. Edible Arrangements started with a flower shop that 17-year-old Tariq Farid (founder of Edible Arrangements) bought when he was a high school student in 1985. In 1998, Farid started selling unique fresh fruit gift products through his floral business under the name Edible Arrangements. A year later in 1999, Farid solidified the business concept and opened the first Edible Arrangements store in East Haven, Connecticut.

The concept of fresh fruit gifts met with success in the marketplace, corresponding with the growth of fruit consumption and an increasing public interest in specialty foods. Farid decided to expand the business, and the first franchised location opened in June 2001 in Waltham, Massachusetts. The first Canadian location opened in 2003 in East Toronto.

In 2008, the company launched its first television marketing campaign, and franchises started incorporating grab-and-go fruit treats (such as smoothies) in the following year. In 2011, Edible Arrangements celebrated the opening of its 1000th franchise. Today, there are over 1,100 Edible Arrangements franchises operating in the United States and other countries around the globe.

Training And Support

Training at the corporate headquarters is provided for two to six weeks for the owner (or managing owner) plus one on-site manager. Owners must meet Manager Certification requirements at the end of the training session. Additional online training and annual training events are available. Franchisees must pay associated training costs.
