Anyone on here actually sold a business by owner through this site? Thoughts?

I am wondering if anyone on here has bought or sold a business (for sale by owner) using this site? How did it go? What are reasonable expectations for business owners when advertising their business for sale? We have a great business with great customers but have had trouble with going about selling it. We don't want to "alarm" our customers, yet at the same time we need to get the word out it is for sale.

The point about selling business is confidentiality and it is absolutely different than real estate so you cannot advertise it everywhere. You have to be discrete to your customers/vendors/employees otherwise you may loose their trust. That's why you have to hire a broker. If you want to sell "By Owner" it works if it is a small asset sale transaction.

And now that you have put your name on this site and said you are intersted in selling, you may have created a situaiton where others have seen you interest in selling. Again, this is a reason you may want to use a Broker!

That is a primary reason you use a Broker! And as a Broker, I have sold a number of businesses, quite successfully through this site!

There are places where people trade in websites. List your company on those. Digitalpoint is one. You can try eBay too. Use to handle the closing so that both buyer and seller are protected when it comes to handing over the keys and getting paid.
