Business Description

Description: Located in a small town in the along the eastern coastline, this is a best-in-class helicopter service established in 1965. The business is approved and certified by the FAA under 14 CFR part 91 (Utilities Patrols / Aerial Photography / Survey) 14 CFR Part 133 (External Load Operations) Part 135 (On Demand Charter) and Part 137 (Aerial Application). Over 30 years old, this company became the largest helicopter company in the State. In 1990, the company relocated to a new self-contained facility where it currently operates. Located less than ten miles from the airport, the facility includes office space, a 15,000 square foot hanger, and a private FAA designated heliport (ME 59). The central location allows the company to provide services to the entire state as well as beyond the state borders. The company was then purchased in the early 2000’s when the previous owner retired. The new and present owner brought a team with extensive industry experience, involved in the daily operations of the business, as well as the maintenance of their own helicopters. All helicopters are maintained to the highest standards established by the Federal Aviation Administration. Total full time employee count is five, with additional part-time contracted pilots. Pilots have an average flight experience of 9,800 hours total flight hours, and 6,900 hours in helicopters. Historically, this business had a large presence in agricultural spraying in the state and the helicopters provide advanced crop protection, primarily for blue growers; and at one time crop protection to the potato fields of Aroostook County, and tree farms in Texas. The rotorcraft provides a very specific application to keep crops safe from diseases with less contaminating overspray than ground equipment. Agricultural spraying is still a provided service, however, the company has expanding its business with other industries. Currently, the focus is on expansion into helicopter services within the construction and power industries and utilizing these helicopters to assist with the 3g to 4g data conversions on mountain tops all over the state and surrounding areas. The company also assisted the state’s largest power and utility company with its reliability expansion, and was pivotal in providing lift services during the construction and maintenance of the state’s wind farms, as well as providing essential services for the state’s pipeline project. The versatility of the helicopter is unmatched in this area. Forest protection services are the company’s most recent venture, again providing specific applications to protect the state’s timberlands.
