Business Description

Here is a special opportunity to purchase up to 3 locations (Tempe & Scottsdale/Arizona and Denver, Colorado) of a discount electronics store that specializes in overstock, open box and refurbished LED Flat Screen HDTV's.

The seller is asking $595,000 for the Denver, Colorado location/store (including approximately $197,000 in inventory) and $1,995,000 for BOTH Tempe and Scottsdale locations (including approximately $331,000 in inventory). These all have excellent cash flow and run on their own!

A special note from the seller/owner:

Have you ever taken a TV back to a store because it was too big or too small? Or maybe you decided you wanted a Samsung instead of a Vizio? And that Vizio you took back was in perfect condition and the store swapped it for you and you went on your way. So what ended up happening to that Vizio TV? Well, there’s a decent chance it eventually ended up at Best Deal in Town and now is being sold for 20-50% off it’s normal price!

Best Deal In Town is an established and reputable electronics company that specializes in discount HDTVs, MacBooks, iPads, and more! Established in 2007, the company has grown a huge following locally with very loyal customers. 4.7 star rating on Facebook with 473 reviews, 4.5 star rating on Google with 195 reviews and 4.5 star rating on Yelp with 138 reviews makes Best Deal In Town arguably the highest rated electronics store in all of Arizona. They have over 30,000 likes on their Facebook page and over 16,000 newsletter subscribers. To put that Facebook number in perspective, their biggest competition on Apple sales is a local company called the Apple Xchange who has less than 8,000 likes or Fry’s Electronics on TV sales who has only 1,100 likes at their Tempe location!

The owner self funded the business from the beginning and has always run a very conservative, low risk company that he built with the goal to be recession proof. His discount model allowed the company to thrive throughout the Great Recession. Everything from the leases to the credit card rates have been carefully negotiated to keep costs down and risks as low as possible. The company keeps quick turnaround times (they try to be around 30 days or less to turnover their inventory), they spend little on advertising due to most of their business being repeat and referral customers, and they have great local organic SEO through their website.

The owner’s main focus the past few years has been to remove himself as much as possible from the day to day operations so he could eventually make an exit. He also owns a chain of bridal stores and with the recent announcement of David’s Bridal filing for bankruptcy, he’s looking to use the time and funds that this sale would provide to focus on taking market share in that industry. Although it might not be wise to sell a company going into the prime money making season for this industry (Holidays, Superbowl, Tax Refunds, March Madness), the owner is excited about pursuing his other interests at this time.

Some areas of growth that the owner has mentioned that could take the company to another level would be an influx in advertising spending, building out an online sales platform, and developing a sales team for bulk sales. Currently, the owner spends very little in advertising because of his conservative nature and although the store has a large following, they still have people that come in daily that have just heard about the company recently. Also, nearly 100% of the sales of the company are done in store. Building out an online sales platform could really expand the growth of the company. Additionally, many bars and restaurants come to Best Deal In Town on a monthly basis that need TVs for their establishments. This is without the company ever having a dedicated team or person that could focus on pursuing these types of deals. The owner admits they probably haven’t even scratched the surface of potential that could be out there in the bulk world where hotels, schools, gyms, churches and many other industries need large amounts of TVs and would likely love to save money on their purchases. A few other areas that could also expand profits could be to shift their financing into an in-house program, start offering an electronics rental program, or expand the product line into some synergistic offerings such as appliances.
