I really had no clue that the RV Rental business had such a demand and would be as profitable as it has been for us... the back story is below...

I own another business which is my "full time job". I have roughly 15 employees which requires most of my work related attention... I wanted a challenge, love to travel on a whim, which lead me to the story below.

My wife and I were kicking around the idea of renting an RV to take the kids to the beach, maybe mosey up the coast and spend the night in an area we found interesting. I looked into renting and RV, did some quick backwards math, and determined I could buy an RV, rent it a few nights a month, and it's paid for itself. So that's what I did.
I took some photos, wrote up a description of the unit and our family, then clicked "post" to see what happened.
The flood gates opened. I'm not sure if the leads came in because we were newly listed, or, we had a very desirable unit, but we had to turn down multiple rentals due to being overbooked.
So what did I do? I bought another one. Next think you know, the first unit is going out for a month, returning, and going back out... Then the second unit started getting booked...
Just for testing purposes I gave it my best "all in" on year 1. I wanted to see how much money could be made if I put in some sweat equity (literally sweating while I was cleaning them from time to time- after the 3rd time I quickly hired a kid in the neighborhood to clean them for me). We wrapped up year one with a nice profit, and, got (2) "free RV's".

This would be a perfect business for someone who has a teenager, loves to travel, and wants to make $20,000 or so (rough estimate) a year on renting RV's.

The real advantage to our we have is our proximity to Charlotte. We live at Lake Norman (North of Charlotte) and have a place to keep (2) RV's. Not many neighborhoods in and around Charlotte have the ability to keep RV's close by.

Competition:
RV Rental Websites (2 of them are market leaders) have options for rentals. The competition is listed on these websites. We market direct to the consumer via facebook ads, other SEO avenues, which limits the "commission" taken by the two large websites
Growth & Expansion:
If someone had 40 hours a week to put into this business, I would recommend buying 5-6 more units. I've found that, the clientele that will pay a higher dollar per night value, wants the latest greatest units available on the marketplace.

Own one of the RV's, will finance to new owner
Support & Training:
The business is really easy. I have a playbook that lists out exactly what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.
