Business Description

Gorgeous historic buildings, fully renovated, immediately profitable!

The former St. Patrick’s Church and Rectory became the Agora Grand and Inn at the Agora after extensive renovations to both properties which are adjacent to each other. The Agora Grand Event Center opened in 2016 from Maine's tallest building, which was built in 1890. The Inn at the Agora opened in 2015 in the former rectory, known as Kelsey Hall, built in 1850.

Taking its name from the Greek word for “gathering place,” in which friends and loved ones gather in celebration, the Agora Grand specializes in elegant weddings, corporate events, conferences and private parties. These two 19th century landmarks have been renovated and upgraded to complement and elevate the heritage of the buildings themselves.

The Agora Grand is the only luxury wedding and event center in Lewiston-Auburn and commands significantly higher fees than nearby venues. The luxury wedding industry in Maine is growing, and a growing portion of the Agora Grand's clientele is from out-of-state. The Inn at the Agora is Lewiston-Auburn's highest rated hotel (3.5 stars) with average 4.5+/5 reviews on TripAdvisor. It is also the closest hotel to Bates College, which provides a significant share of business.
Growth & Expansion:
The Inn at the Agora has been open since 2015 and has seen year-after-year growth. The cash flow of the inn was $45,388 in 2017 (not including housekeeping, which would ADD another $14036)! The Agora Grand is currently open only May-October and focuses on one event per week. Significant growth possibilities include two or more weddings/events per week and staying open all year. The Agora Grand opened mid 2016 and the 2017 cash flow was $86,006, hugely profitable in its first full year. Long term cash flow should easily exceed $200K/year.
