22 Year Successful Nature & Wild Bird Seed Store
Own a Gratifying Business, Stressless and No Headaches
Grand Chute, WI
This is a tremendous opportunity to own an existing 22 year old retail business at a fraction of the cost of starting new. Wildbird & Backyard has name recognition, a reputation for unique product (including a large diversity of USA Made merchandise), satisfied and loyal repeat customers and is 2.5 years into a new location with high visibility and easy access to Highway 41. Being the largest store of its kind, including franchises, in Wisconsin, it’s also a fun place to work that’s easy to operate with 3-4 part time employees. Our nature loving customers enjoy their shopping experiences here, know they are getting well-made product, sound advice, friendly service, all at a competitive price and share their compliments of this store with family, friends and neighbors. Bird feeding is the largest hobby in the USA today! The main repeat consumable sale is bird seed - 4 of our own private blends of seed mixes along with 17 other forms of seed feed. Seed is delivered weekly from a local granary so we know our product is always fresh with consistent quality. This purchase includes the seed formulas, printed seed bags, fixtures, displays, Wildbird & Backyard website with e-commerce, loyalty reward program and complete inventory.
Inventory includes seed, suet, seed cakes and nectars. Our own exclusive mixes of bird seed are specially formulated to attract birds that inhabit our area of Wisconsin, without fillers and additives. There are feeders not only for the varied seed we sell but also for suet, nectar, fruit and jelly, peanuts, bluebirds, squirrels and butterflies. There are poles and accessories (hangers, hooks, brackets, baffles, cleaning brushes, cleaners, trays and perches) and houses for all varieties of birds, butterflies, bats, toads and squirrels. Garden products and giftware to adorn the backyard are also in abundance. Birdbaths (heated and non-heated), binoculars and scopes, books, jewelry, stained glass sun catchers, greeting cards, clocks, weather instruments, garden stakes and arbors make up a small list of other items in inventory.
As an active member of the community and an advocate for nature, Wildbird & Backyard has had a presence in a variety of community activities. They include but are not limited to joint ventures with Wild Ones, Inc, Heckrodt Wetland Reserve, Bubolz Nature Center, Mosquito Hill Nature Center, Master Gardeners, NE Wisconsin Birding Club, “Birds of Prey Day”, book signings with author Stan Tekiela, Bird Walk sponsored by Opticron Optics and trunk shows with Jim Flood, President of Bovano of Cheshire.
Sale of the business also includes our web domain and website with e-commerce. The website brings customers inside our brick and mortar store to obtain information and shop from the comfort of their home or office. It features links to other informative nature sites and holds an archive of some of our larger newsletters. Working with Stellar Blue Technologies, we also have the ability to send newsletters to our current list of approximately 1000 people who have signed up with us. A newsletter is sent monthly; customers also receive notifications of special events and sales.
In 2005 we started our Feather Your Nest program. It’s a loyalty award program that gives the customer a $15.00 store credit once they have purchased $200.00. The credit can continue to grow or can be redeemed at any time for merchandise or gift cards. This has been enthusiastically received and we currently have about 1240 households enrolled in this program.
