Our client is a leading manufacturer and distributor of office and commercial furniture in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, with over 30 years of success. They manufacture standard lines of products, but are known for their ability to build custom designed pieces to customer specifications. Product is sold primarily through dealers, both large and small, as well as office designers/architects (who often work through the dealers) and who specify use of the Company’s products.
Through its Dealers, the Company serves all markets requiring high quality, wood office/commercial/industrial style furniture. Commercial business offices, executive, schools/colleges, banking and healthcare markets are a sampling of their customer base.
Products include: standard and custom designed desks, credenzas, hutches, bookcases, ergonomic computer work centers and cabinets, media libraries, tack boards, conference boards, lecterns, conference tables and various closet storage systems. Approximately 80% of product orders consist of or include custom pieces built to customer specifications.
The Company’s reputation for high quality products and customized solutions sets it far apart from competitors and has helped it build a strong brand and loyal customer base.
Products are manufactured in the Company’s facility outside Seattle. The manufacturing process includes a mix of automation technologies, hand finishing by skilled craftsman and visual inspections for quality.
Company practices and materials are compliant with the principles of a “Green” marketplace. Most of the components used in their products, mainly melamine particleboard, are 100% recyclable. The Company uses water-based, environment-friendly adhesives throughout their operation. They also blanket wrap their furniture when shipping, eliminating the need for bulk cartoning and excess dunnage.
The Company has recently contracted with a prominent dealer who has provided access to new opportunities; rapidly ramping revenues and profitability.
The Ideal Purchase Candidates include furniture dealers/distributors, space planners/designers, cabinetmakers and other manufacturers of interior wood products.
This divestiture is part of a planned exit strategy for retirement. The Sellers will phase out as desired by the new owner and will provide transition assistance over several months as part of the purchase structure.
