The following tips will help you get the most out of using the BizBuySell search engine to find a business to buy.
You can search a single state, multiple states, a single region, multiple regions, all states, and/or foreign countries.
You can search a single county, or multiple counties.
The business categories identify the various types of businesses for sale. You may select as many categories as you wish.
By default, relocatable and home-based businesses are included in the search results. Relocatable businesses are not dependent upon their location for their operation (e.g. a mail order company). To eliminate relocatable or home-based businesses from your results, click the appropriate button.
To limit your search results to businesses listed within the last 3, 7 or 30 days, click the appropriate option.
City Name or Keywords
Use this field to narrow your search.
For example, if you want to narrow your search just to a specific city, (eg. Atlanta), enter the city name in the keyword field. Note: Some businesses do not specify a city to maintain confidentiality.
To find a specific type of business, choose words that describe the business you're seeking. For example, to search for a bed and breakfast you could enter the words "hotel motel inn". This will return all businesses with "hotel", "motel" or "inn" in their descriptions.
Matching any or all keywords
Choosing "Match any keywords" finds all businesses with at least one of the words entered. This is the default searching option.
Choosing "Match all keywords" finds only businesses with all of the words entered. Keep in mind when selecting the "match all" option, the more words you enter, the more restrictive your search will be. For example, entering "auto repair" will return many more matches than "auto brake muffler repair." Another example: the phrase "fast food restaurant" will return only fast food restaurants. All other types of restaurants will be excluded.
