This business is a great small business because you can work independently most of the time. Our truck is a "one man band". Confidential documents are placed into one of our locked consoles or barrels which are free of use with a regularly scheduled service. A regularly scheduled service is a weekly, bi-monthly or monthly service. The confidential documents are lifted in one of our barrels and poured into the shredder for destruction. A certificate of destruction is given to the customer upon completion of the shredding as proof that their documents are destroyed. Customers are always welcomed to witness the destruction. A second employee is needed for large purges only. Our business has been built on our customer satisfaction and have never lost a customer because they were dissatisfied. Phone calls come directly to me so that I can schedule business at the time of the call. If a call comes in while I'm with a customer I will return their call as soon as I'm able. They are always amazed that someone is physically answering the phone or returns their calls immediately. Word of mouth and our web-site are our main means of advertisement so you can only imagine what the revenue would be with sales staff. There is very little overhead costs because the truck is our business. We have a home based business. As an additional service to help small businesses and consumer customers guard against identity theft, we have formed a strategic alliance with several small businesses that will accept and store their confidential documents in our locked containers until we arrive to shred on their site. The truck will shred & pulverize 6,000 pounds an hour so in most cases we are able to complete large purges in just one day. We also receive revenue for recycling the shredded paper. The cost fluctuates but it generally pays $125 per ton.4
