We are a unique wine retailing business with a groundbreaking sales model. Our business has nearly doubled every year since it was founded in 2010, despite very little upfront investment. Fantastic growth opportunities lie ahead.
Our Company markets an exclusive portfolio of award-winning wines from small, boutique wineries around the world. Our wines, which are not available in major retail outlets, are sold primarily through private, educational wine tasting events held in the residences or offices of our clientele.
Guided by one of our fully-trained independent sales representatives (which we call our “Wine Educators”), our classy, casual Tastings provide 10 – 20 guests with the rare opportunity to “try before you buy,” all while enjoying the fascinating backstories of each wine featured at the Tasting. Tasting participants benefit from 10 – 20% discounts on all orders submitted at the event, and the “Host” of the Tasting receives additional discounts, perks or gifts. Once the Tasting is completed, the Wine Educator enters all of the orders into our proprietary online order management system. This system processes the payments and transfers the orders over to our 3rd-party warehouse, which fulfills and ships the orders to the customer.
Our innovative sales model (which we call “social selling”) has proved to be a resounding success. First and foremost, our Tastings provide our Wine Educators with the opportunity to engage in face-to-face interactions with the customers in a relaxed social environment. The importance of these interactions cannot be understated; they enable our Wine Educators to build personal connections with each individual customer at the Tasting, thereby maximizing the sales potential of the event.
Of course, our Tastings also deliver exceptional value to our customers. Gathered together for a fun and unique experience, guests who attend our Tastings are able to socialize with friends and family; learn about wine in an intimate, no-pressure setting; sample a variety of exotic, hard-to-find artisan wines; purchase the wines at discounted prices; and have their orders shipped right to their doorstep within days. With so many benefits, it’s not surprising that our customer satisfaction rates are over 90%.
Our unique business model provides us with even more critical advantages, like extremely low overhead costs. Because our Wine Educators are independent contractors paid via commissions, we do not incur any of the fixed costs associated with full-time employees (e.g. salaries, healthcare benefits, payroll taxes, etc.). Moreover, our Wine Educators handle the vast majority of any customer service issues that arise, greatly reducing our corporate costs. Even the training and support of new Wine Educators is mostly outsourced, since our training program is automated and since each new Wine Educator is assigned a more senior Wine Educator as a “mentor,” who assists them in getting started. Furthermore, we have invested intelligently in a robust, proprietary software infrastructure that has automated almost all of the day-to-day tasks of running the business (order management, commissions tracking, accounting, tax reporting, etc.).
All in all, our lean infrastructure means that the Company is inherently scalable; it can be managed from any location, and it can continue to expand in additional states with minimal hassle.
