Troy, NY is located on the western edge of Rensselaer County and on the eastern bank of the Hudson River. Troy has close ties to the nearby cities of Albany and Schenectady, forming a region popularly called the Capital District. The city is one of the three major centers for the Albany-Schenectady-Troy Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which has a population of 850,957. At the2010 census, the population of Troy was 50,129.
The UPS Store, Troy is located in Brunswick Square, along route 7 (Hoosick Rd), the 2nd most traveled road in the Capital District and the main gateway to the State of Vermont, drawing thousands of tourists and commuters to the area on a daily basis. This location is also situated in a significant retail shopping hub for the community. Walmart is the anchor tenant for Brunswick Square and currently undergoing major expansion and reconstruction to become a Super Walmart, opening in the Fall 2013. Co-tenants include a dental office, vision center/optometrist, shoe store, beauty supply, bank, a Mexican restaurant, and additional office and service oriented businesses. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is located approximately 1 mile from The UPS Store/Troy as an added plus for customer draw.
