Gallery/Gift Shop--Best Location, Rhinebeck
Often Called "The Nicest Shop in Rhinebeck"
There is no place hotter in the Northeast than the Hudson Valley... no town hotter in the Hudson Valley than Rhinebeck... and no location hotter in Rhinebeck than EB's... right on East Market Street in the absolute heart of the Village (next door to Bread Alone).
EB's Hudson Valley Finds Gallery and Gift Shop was established a mere 3+ years ago, but it is already a key component of Rhinebeck's "downtown scene." Everything offered for sale at EB's is created by local area artists and master craftspeople, making it an entirely unique and unparalleled retail destination.
Indeed, in its short existence, EB's has become more than just a shop... it has become entrenched as a "brand"... a brand which promises its customers a special--and fun!--shopping experience.
As owner and curator, I have created a setting that offers a wide variety of items at a broad spectrum of prices. This eclectic mix includes beautifully made fashion accessories; unique pieces of hand-wrought jewelry; masterfully created ceramics; one-of-a-kind works in wood and metal; very special kitchen, tabletop and home decor items; impeccably crafted furniture... and, of course, original paintings and sculptures.
To source this array of high quality and most interesting merchandise, I have developed exclusive relationships with over 75 local area artists and craftspeople... relationships I would be honored to pass along to the new owner(s).
EB's customer base is both repeat (mostly those with weekend homes and/or frequent visitors) and new (tourists). Customers visit the gallery/shop either in person or by phone/online/email, often several times during the course of the year. In fact, many customers from the area claim to "watch and wait" for the changes in the display windows. As such, EB's has successfully crossed over the local/non-local line in attracting business.
Whatever their address, EB's customers tend to have discriminating tastes. They are also people who believe in supporting local artists, and they reserve a portion of their spending for just this kind of special purchase.
Unlike the Hamptons, Rhinebeck is a year-round place... a shopping kind of place at that! And with two new hotels and spas planned to break ground this year along with a new vacation condo development, the shopping population promises to swell even further.
The heart of the selling season begins with Break of Spring and continues strongly to Labor Day. Soon after Labor Day, the town next enjoys an Autumn influx of visitors and tourists who come to "leaf peep," eat, stay and shop. And more recently, with its much-publicized Sinterklaas celebration, Rhinebeck has also become a Holiday destination for many in the northeast, ensuring a continued and robust early-winter selling season.
January through March is generally cold and quiet, allowing a breather--time to take a wonderful vacation, then plan for the upcoming year. In other words, a perfect flow and rhythm to enjoy as a retailer.
If you were to become the new owner(s) of EB's, I would be happy to help you bridge into this turn-key business. Once it was your own, you could certainly continue within its footprint, or evolve it as your own vision suggests.
