About Me

Scott Moffitt, Certified Franchise Executive, is President of SMI, a full service, client-centric franchise consulting service. Capitalizing on over twenty five years of experience in the food service industry SMI specializes in assisting small and emerging franchisors achieve their growth objectives. Typical services include the implementation of best practices in the areas of new franchisee recruiting methodology, franchise qualification processes, web based lead generation technologies and the re-franchising of existing company stores. Prior to establishing SMI, Scott has held senior level franchise development positions with some of the country’s most well recognized QSR and retail brands. Beginning his career in the food service industry in the Dallas area as an hourly employee for TGI Friday’s, Scott soon developed a passion for the restaurant business. His early experience was in the area of training and development during which time he was instrumental in the creation and implementation of numerous management training programs. Quickly realizing the growth of franchising and recognizing the need to support franchisee profitability, he gained experience in franchise operations. Developing an immense respect for the entrepreneurial spirit of the franchisee, Scott began focusing on franchise sales and development. Establishing himself first as a development professional for several regional brands he soon moved to senior development positions for such nationally and internationally recognized brands as Mrs. Fields Famous Brands which boasted over 4,000 locations consisting of five franchised brands: Mrs. Fields Cookies, Great American Cookies, Pretzel Time, PretzelMaker, and TCBY. Notable highlights during his tenure at Mrs. Fields Famous Brands included the acquisition of three of the five franchise brands, the development of a multi million dollar revenue stream, and the re-franchising of over 400 company store locations. Utilizing the skills developed at Mrs. Fields for developing multiple brands Scott joined CKE Restaurants as Senior Vice President of Franchise Sales for its Carl Jr’s, Hardee’s and La Salsa Fresh Mexican concepts. Spearheading the development of their franchising strategy he was instrumental in the decision to divest the La Salsa brand, the identification of new market development for the Carl Jr’s brand and the re-franchising of the Hardee’s company stores. Later as Vice President of Franchise Sales and Development at Church’s Chicken, Scott was instrumental in setting up the franchise sales and real estate functions for a mature brand poised for growth utilizing the franchise model creating a new store development commitment pipeline of over250 locations in just 18 months. Scott’s passion for the business, respect for the franchise model and enthusiasm for the next great challenge led to the creation of SMI in January 2008. An active member of the International Franchise Association and the International Council of Shopping Centers, Scott brings a wealth of industry related experience in the areas of franchise sales and marketing, real estate and organizational development. Scott is a graduate of The University of Texas at Dallas, is married with two children and resides in Marietta, Georgia.
