About Me

Mark Brown has over 27 years of business experience in a wide range of industries. Since founding NextStep in 1997, Mark has been helping small business owners prepare their businesses for sale and to market their businesses to buyers. He developed the NextStep Business Sale Management System™ to: * Increase the likelihood that the right buyer will actually close the sale; * Increase the price that buyers are willing to pay for a business; * Improve the efficiency of the sales process in order to reduce the cost of selling the business. He has successfully negotiated transactions from as small as $25,000 to as large as $8 million in a multitude of industries. Prior to becoming a small business owner, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Aavid Thermal Technologies, where he was a driving force on the team that took the company from near bankruptcy to profitability and financial health and a successful IPO in 1996. In his four-year tenure, the market value of the company grew from near zero to $350 million. Prior to Aavid Thermal Technologies, he was a controller for ABA Industries, an $18 million manufacturing company. He started his career as a consultant in the consulting division of Arthur Andersen, which is now Accenture. He holds a B.A. in Accounting and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Marketing from the University of South Florida.
