About Me

John has broad and deep experience as an investment banker/business broker and management consultant with over 35 years of experience in corporate development, P&L line management, and various executive level roles. His advisory services blend extensive operational experience with years of successful investment banking practice. John served in executive capacities with tier one companies in the information technology industry including: EDS, MCI Systemhouse, Ernst&Young, AMR Information Services, and BSG Corp. He owned and managed Corporate Investment Business Brokers in Columbus, Ohio; and most recently was Managing Director with Corporate Finance Associates (CFA), a middle market investment banker. John has deal making experience across the M&A spectrum. As a corporate executive, John lead deal teams on 3 large transactions totaling several hundred million dollars. As an independent business broker, John has successfully closed 4 transactions in the middle market and 23 “main street” deals. During his corporate career, John lead the due diligence teams on dozens of transactions which ultimately did not close. This experience provides valuable insight to the potential pitfalls inherent in deals from both a seller and buyer perspective. John draws on his management consulting background to quickly grasp a full understanding of the client’s needs. John is a skilled negotiator and innovative problem solver bringing a proven set of creative and analytical skills to each project. Perhaps most important, John brings to his clients uncompromising standards in terms of quality service and work ethic; with a personal style grounded in respect and human compassion. Representative engagements include the following: Engaged by several middle market IT Software companies to accomplish a sale or recapitalization of the business; including the valuation, marketing document preparation, prospective buyer/investor search and qualification, due diligence preparation, and overall process management. Retained by NYSE listed company to assist in formulating their growth by acquisition strategy, research and identify acquisition targets, initiate dialog, gather and analyze information, assess valuation parameters, and work to close multiple transactions within an 18 month period. Engaged by numerous private equity and venture capital firms to identify acquisition targets, initiate discussions, gather and evaluate information and facilitate completed transactions. Retained by numerous small business owners as a trusted advisor with a specific focus on developing their succession plan and exit strategy.
