About Me

David McCready has leveraged over 30 years of progressive business experience to become owner of Transworld Business Advisors of South Texas. In several ways, the varied leadership and management roles have paved a new way to help good people do good things. David believes that every work and personal experience has value in preparing for today: "I now appreciate that push broom I despised when I was 7 in my dad's small business!" David held several key leadership roles in distribution/supply chain/logistics with a few companies. Most notably perhaps, he was with O’Reilly Auto Parts, known by many experts as the most effective organization in its industry. David was instrumental in building support around a vision, then reformulating and implementing a distribution strategy through a great team to support O’Reilly’s explosive growth and profitability (revenue grew from $180M to over $2.5B). His roles included DC manager, regional DC director, director of distribution, vice-president of distribution, and senior vice-president of distribution. He has had operational responsibility for a support staff of over 30 team members and a field staff of over 3300 team members. David was able to add substantial value to and gain valuable experience by working within retail store operations, training, finance, and I.T. He was instrumental in several $200 - 850M acquisitions, including leading due diligence and successful integration projects. David has also worked for and with other companies and successfully managed international ocean logistics, domestic trucking fleets, complex multi-million dollar commercial construction/material handling/automation projects, and more. David was fortunate to briefly serve the rural poor in Central America by working as interim executive director of a favored non profit organization in 2008 and 2009. Experienced in: Acquisitions and divestitures; organic and acquisition growth planning/implementation; inventory planning; manufacturing and international sourcing; supply chain, strategic, operations, and performance management; ; best practice review/implementation; facility site selection; leadership principles coaching, performance management metrics development, organization structure review, and mediation.
