Hiler Hospitality
Business Broker
Windham County, VT

About Me

DAVID HILER decided at a young age to enlist in the hospitality business and has already amassed 20 years of Restaurant and Inn operations and consulting experience, which he now brings to Hiler Hospitality, LLC. The last twelve years of his employment were as a principal, employee and broker at Oates and Bredfeldt, perhaps the most respected Inn consulting firm in the country. Five of those years were spent building the Three Mountain Inn, in Jamaica, Vermont, from a poorly performing business into a profitable, four-diamond AAA rated, Wine Spectator Award winning Country Inn. David’s Inn-career, however, began as manager of the Chester Inn in Chester, Vermont, at the tender age of 20. A year later he moved to San Francisco, choosing a life of “enlightenment” in the sunshine of California over the chilly weather of New England. After graduating from San Francisco City College Hotel/Restaurant Program, David became the youngest manager in the Hard Rock Café Corporation, where he remained throughout the late eighties and early nineties. Returning to the infinitely quieter (literally and figuratively) Inn-business, he has since dedicated himself to the pursuit of exceptional guest and client service and to discovering a path to a profitable career in the Bed and Breakfast Industry. To that end, David has owned, leased and managed properties, developed Innkeeper training materials, designed and implemented Internship programs, performed speaking engagements for leading industry organizations such as PAII, Select Registry, Distinctive Inns of New England and Passport to New England, published articles in hospitality publications and worked to promote the Inn industry to an upscale clientele. David and his family live in Brattleboro, Vermont. His wife, Stacy, a reluctant transplant from New Orleans, enjoys teaching and working at a Montessori school and sharing the responsibility of raising their two children. The Hilers are active in the community and David is a founding board member of both the Latchis Hotel and Art Center and the Common Ground Restaurant. They enjoy traveling, outdoor sports, live music and visiting the occasional Bed and Breakfast.
