About Me

I have 20 years of experience that has touched on almost every facet of value creation and realization. I have been involved in: Unlocking value through the sale of a current business to monetize the years of hard work, big decisions and cyclical swings that a business owner experiences. Assisting companies wanting to create value by acquiring new businesses as a means of growth for an existing business, whether the current enterprise is looking to acquire additional customers, additional capacities, additional capabilities or grow into a tangential market. Creating value with focus on strategic growth initiatives, planning, and operational control that ensured value enhancement. I began my career as an Investment Banker for George K. Baum & Company, a regional full-service Investment Bank. My career at George K. Baum & Company covered the spectrum of deals from leveraged buyouts to initial public offerings. I worked in several different sectors while at Baum including Business Services, Manufacturing, Distribution, Retail, Restaurant, Transportation and Technology. Through my Investment Banking career, I gained experience in financial models, negotiations, marketing sell-side deals to stakeholders that ranged from strategic buyers to financial buyers, and running buyer searches for clients looking to grow their business. I left George K. Baum & Company to assume a non-control ownership and executive management position with a warehouse management software company, LDS, Inc. I was hired to help package and market the company for an exit through either a sale of the company or a leverage re-capitalization. I began my tenure with LDS, Inc. as the CFO and eventually become the COO, as well. While at LDS, Inc., I initiated many successful changes that included: restructuring personnel and compensation, bonus plans, balance sheet improvements through changes of capital structure, renewed focus on customer service, new budgeting processes, and finally the development of new internet-based products. I have since owned and divested several businesses and in addition to my work with Apex, I am a business owner.
