Boothbay Harbor, ME
“The Carousel Marina” is mix of several related, ancillary sub-enterprises situated on the ever-busy Boothbay Harbor waterfront in Midcoast Maine. The “Midcoast Maine Region” is a stretch of coastline that extends along US Route 1 from Brunswick to Belfast. Some of the larger Midcoast Maine communities include Brunswick, Bath, Rockport, Rockland, Camden and Belfast. The coastline is made up of a series of finger-like peninsulas extending out into the Gulf of Maine and the Atlantic Ocean. The marina complex is a boating service facility (tie-ups, fueling, and pump-outs… but no boat repairs), berthing/mooring accommodations, a popular restaurant/tavern (“The Whale’s Tale”), a ship’s chandlery for purchasing marine supplies, a yacht club, and a reservable special events function center. The marina also provides oceanside lodging accommodations for tired mariners. There is a good-sized owner’s apartment overlooking the harbor. It’s usually the next northern berthing facility for the mega yachts cruising beyond Portland to Camden and Bar Harbor. It is a very popular Midcoast Maine port of call for boaters of all size and its three-season tavern is a well-patronized eatery and gathering spot for both locals and tourists! Tourism, naval-megayacht shipbuilding and fishing have long been the primary generators of the local economy. The population is comfortably-moderate, friendly and umbilical to the ocean. The waterfront facility is sited on a little over a half an acre with 325 feet of shore frontage on Boothbay Harbor. The two-story structure has 24,106 SF of space, is well-maintained and in very good condition. Taxes are about $10,000 a year. There are 55 berths and 33 moorings.
