Unusual Louisville Opportunity - Own a Business & Still Have A Life!
Open M-F only, 11a.m.-2 p.m.- Own a Business, But Have a Life :-)
We noticed our friends who invested in small companies allowed the business to eventually define their life. So, we decided the lifestyle we wanted and designed this business to literally support us in that conscious choice. Fifteen years later, we've never looked back or regretted that decision. Since 2000, we've made our passion for hospitality our business. We prepare homemade luncheon fare from the freshest ingredients available & serve it fast at a price that won't wreck a budget. No artificial discounts or coupons here- just old-fashioned value and quality eats. We enjoy gathering people in a relaxed environment, with good food, a mix of fun music and lots of laughter. At The Main Eatery, CEO's stand next to janitors, in a line that winds out the doors to the sidewalk, all waiting their turn to order lunch. It's really amazing - you need to see it to believe it.
We had no previous experience in the food/beverage industry when we opened our store. But, we did have a practiced work ethic, a handful of family recipes and a desire to treat others well in the ways we like to be treated...consistent quality for a fair price, in a welcoming environment.
Our homemade soups, garden salads, deli-style sandwiches and daily Blue Plate Specials ensure something special for every taste preference. And, after some years now, our accountant still can't believe the numbers in only a 3-hour window. Imagine what you could do, he tells us, if you expanded that time window... We smile. For us, it's all about a certain quality of life that is still very life-giving. We honestly enjoy what we do and the manner in which we do it. So, you say...if it's so great, why would you sell it? Good question.
Several months ago, we were approached by some folks who often come to our little place. They want us to relocate to a Southwestern state and essentially do our style of food for their private club. It's very tempting and we continue to weigh the pros and cons. We've decided to see if there might be an individual and/or group of investors who would be interested in taking our original concept and moving it to another level...we have the room literally to expand and our location is arguably one of the very best in Louisville for business/tourist/convention traffic.
If there is such a person and/or investor group, we'll discuss seriously the possibility of marketing our business.
We could envision an extended family or friends developing & expanding the business plan that currently serves us well. Louisville enjoys a growing commercial base anchored by major Fortune 500 companies and established local brands. Our historic building is surrounded by galleries, museums, cultural venues (Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, Actor's Theater, etc.) and tourist attractions that draw folks from around the world...The Kentucky Derby, The Bourbon Trail, The Slugger Museum, just to mention a few. The overall quality of life in the Louisville area is both inviting and very affordable; the cost of food, housing and entertainment are all well below national averages. It's just a good place to live and do business.
All of that said, our clientele base is remarkably loyal with a 95%+ return rate among our local customers. Tourists join the lines out of curiosity, but we've never done any advertising other than word-of-mouth. Imagine where this business might go if one was interested in developing the tourist/guest potential while enjoying the proven support of our local patrons...No wonder we often have commercial brokers trying to talk us into franchising our operation...But, really, that's just not our gig. Perhaps it's yours?
If you have a sincere interest in owning/operating your own business, if you're sane and reasonably pleasant, if you have possession of or can legally obtain the kind of funds necessary to purchase a successful, turn-key operation like ours, then please contact us. If not, please do not. Thanks!
