Mr. Atchison has financial, sale/marketing and general management skills. For 11 years prior to founding Sunbelt Business Brokers of Corona, he was the President and CEO of a manufacturing company which was a big money loser when he was hired to turn it around. Joe focused the Company’s efforts on new product development (five new patents issued), manufacturing, quality/efficiency (achieved ISO9001 and QS9000 certification) and a strong emphasis on sales, marketing and customer service. His enthusiastic leadership inspired the team, transforming the Company into the parent company’s strongest profit contributor. Due in part to Joe’s efforts, gross margins at the Company improved from 24% to a high of 52%.
Previously, Joe was the Vice-President of Finance/CFO of two publicly traded companies and helped to take a third company public. During his corporate career, Mr. Atchison was successful in selling a number of divisions, subsidiaries and stand-alone businesses. These successes motivated Joe to start Sunbelt Business Brokers of Corona. Sunbelt is the largest Business Brokerage Company in the world with over 250 offices in the United States and 17 foreign countries.
Mr. Atchison is also President of Atchison Advisory, Inc. which provides operational improvement consulting to under performing companies in an effort to help them to achieve their potential and thus be able to sell sooner and at a higher price. He was active with the Orange County Council of the AeA, serving on its Marketing/Sales Committee for ten years and as its Chair for six years.
Mr. Atchison started his career with Arthur Young & Co, and received a MBA – Finance from the University of Santa Clara. He is a Certified Business Intermediary (International Business Brokers Association), a Certified Business Broker (California Association of Business Brokers) and is a Certified Public Accountant - inactive (State of California).
