Jim focuses on the valuation and sales of closely-held small to mid-sized companies. Business owners, shareholders, attorneys, CPAs, fiduciaries, lenders and others seek Jim’s services in valuing and/or selling full or fractional business interests for successful buy-sell planning and transactions, buy-sell agreements, estate planning, estate, gift and other tax filings, litigation support, succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, financings, reorganizations, ESOP, bankruptcy, shareholder disputes, and marital dissolutions.
Jim focuses on the valuation of closely-held small to mid-sized companies, and has been involved in business sales and valuation since 2005. Prior to joining the Exit Strategies, Jim was the founder and president of two telecommunications consulting firms, one of which he successfully and profitably sold. His previous experience includes work as a leadership adviser to for-profit and non-profit organizations; as a partner in a prestigious litigation support consulting firm; as a senior vice president of an international coatings company with profit and loss responsibility for a $20 million business; and as a director of international operations for a division of major chemical company. Earlier in his career, Jim led sales, marketing and technical teams; directed and developed strategic plans; and forged international business relationships.
Jim is an accredited Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) through the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA). He earned a BS in Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. Jim is married, lives in the Sacramento area and is a competitive marathoner.
