My shop is easily relocatable anywhere in the country. Sales are generated via my reputation, my website and at rally's.
Many people ask if they have to bring their bike into my shop for a custom seat and the answer is no. On my website I have perfected a process for customers to send in their seat to be customized without having to come to the shop.
There is a huge opportunity for growth that I opened last year. Our biggest barrier to growth for 25 years has been seat pans. All motorcycles have unique seat pans in which we adhere our custom seats too. Because of this, we have to take the customer's existing seat pan, remove the stock seat and use the pan with our custom seat. Obviously, this can be a deal breaker for a large number of potential customers.
In 2014 I sourced a mold maker overseas and produced a custom seat pan for one of our most popular motorcycles, the BMW GS Water Cooled bike. This has been a game changer. If I was staying in the business I would build custom seat pans for additional motorcycles. In addition to retail demand, the ability to streamline manufacturing lowers my production costs substantially.
In short, based on last years sales of BMW GS seats on my custom pan, for every 3 custom seat pans added to the line up, gross sales will increase approximately $200k with net income increasing approximately $110k.
