Unless you're an expert with comics and collectables, I'd avoid the industry. It's no different than collectable coins - you can easily lose your shirt if you don't have a great sense of what you're doing. I'd also be concerned about the fact that the comic industry is fading away. Young kids and teenagers just don't collect the things anymore, that's going to limit your business' lifespan considerably.

Are you considering buying an ongoing operation, or starting one up? If buying, this is such a niche business that it may be worth it, if the earnings and trends are strong, over the past three (3) years. But you need to really study the Seller's Financials, and if they are claiming a lot of cash...well, I would not trust their word on it! Beware that all collectables are being really hurt by the Internet. So, again I would be concerned if they are only selling out of a retail site, and not on the Net.
