What flags a reply?

One of of every two replies I try to post gets flagged and disappears. Sometimes forever. I'm not selling anything and rarely do my comments have a link to another site. So what is causing this problem? Are other people having the same problem with their comments not being published?

First off, thank you for being such a positive contributor to the community.

We, like all open forums have to deal with a number of spam related issues. Hence forgive me if I am a little vague. We wouldn't want spammers to learn how to work their way around the system.

Much of what goes on here is self-policing. As you know, inappropriate posts can be reported with the 'Report abuse' link. Generally, though, we've created a system such that users can't cause a post to be deleted on their own. All flagged posts are reviewed by administrative staff. Posts are also generally monitored even if no abuse has been reported.

We want to keep this community forum friendly and useful for all participants -- both for potential buyers and sellers. Because of that, we will delete blatant spam, those who have nothing to offer but a pitch of some sort. Of course posts with inappropriate language or off-topic will also get deleted. Because we want this forum to be useful to all, we do certainly allow users to include some sort of contact info or branding if they so desire.

In your case specifically, I can't honestly say that I know what has happened. I've seen enough of your posts to know that you are a welcome and useful participant in the discussions. All I can say at this point is that I would have to go back and research past activity in order to determine why your posts have been deleted.

Hope that helps for now. - Tod
