Looking to buy a Home Inspection Franchise or Existing Inspection Business in GA

I am in the process of looking into buying a Home Inspection Franchise and was also approached about purchasing an existing Home Inspection business in GA. The franchise costs are about $80K, buying the existing business is around $200K. They've been around over 20 years and conducted over 700 inspections last year. With the franchise I will be starting from scratch. Also, I have an advertising & marketing background and have zero training in home inspection. Anyone in this industry have any advice, how to value this particular business? Thanks.

Value of service businesses is a multiple of true net operating income (pre-tax profit with interest expense, depreciation and owners added back in). Range is 1 to 5 times that number with 2 usually a safe bet. Re: franchising I suggest you determine your "buyer values" and find something that fits you rather than what might draw you in or sound appealing. We provide that (free) service. It will save you time, money, and reduce your risk. Good luck!
