Is buying a tanning salon a bad business investment decision?

I am looking to buy a tanning salon chain with absentee ownership. Bad decision in this economy especially with the new tanning laws?

Recently I heard somethiing against tanning salons that govt is restricting them as the may create
skin cancer, although I am not 100% sure about it.
please check it with the relevant department governing it before jumping into one and investing.

It all depends on the individual tanning salon. What is the history? Ask for 3-year Tax Returns and month-to-month YTD P&Ls, as well as the same documentation for the prior year so that you can see recent trending. Some people are not traveling, but getting a tan none-the-less through tanning salons. But you need to know how THAT one is doing. Make no assumptions about the market, at large.
