Please be aware that requirements for selling businesses without real estate vary greatly from state to state. Many don't even require a liscense, but Florida does.

First of all you can't start as a broker you have to be an agent working under a licesed broker for atleast 4 years then you may qualify for broker exam. Second how long it will take to close your first deal. That depends on your smartness and aptitude. If you pay attention to details you can enter into this profession with a listing or existing buyer/s depending on your social activities and you can close a deal in the first month. If you are a typical agent like those who look very busy but achieve nothing you may not see a closing for 2 years
There are three class of people. One who learn from other people mistakes, second who learn from their
own mistakes and the third one never learn they keep commiting mistakes throughout their life.
I come across these kind of people every day and despite warnings they go in the wrong directions.
I had a friend who was always lost on the freeway despite giving him foolproof directions. Once he called
me as usual that he is lost and what should he do. I suggested him just go in the reverse direction where your mind is saying to go and he arrived safely on his destination. So my friend I don't know what category you fit in.
Good Luck in your roller coaster ride!

There is no answer to that. But it takes the average Business Broker three years to break even on his/her operation.
