I really would like to buy a franchise, but I have a low net worth. Where do I start to find that answer?

I really would like to open a coffee shop that my family can be a part of.

Hi Jim,
Go to and look through all the franchise opportunities. You can sort by industry, state and most importantly, by investment. I would recommend you look at the lower investment franchises and see if any are a good fit considering your net worth. One of our local franchise consultants can help you through the process and go over funding options too. Feel free to look at our company website as we might be able to help.
Best of luck,

Jim, the FTC used to sell a magnificent catalog of franchises through the Government Printing Office. I tried to look online, but that does not appear to exist anymore. There are a number of such catalogs out there that are printed by nongovernmental publishers, but I cannot tell you which of them might be better or worse. I would hit the library or the book store and check some of them out. The publication I was referring to listed a huge number of franchises, the nature of the franchise, how much it costs to get in and general comments about training and support. I am sure the government is no longer printing it because others are replicating that information. I did find an online brochure which talked about how to determine whether a franchise is for you and some of the information you should know about making a purchase of that kind, through the Government Printing Office. You can take a look at that at:

Good luck.
