I am looking to sell my construction business and don't know where to begin. Help?

I own a 15 year old Sign Installation business in Southern California. It grosses a 1/2 Mil a year and has potential for growth. I have NO idea how to begin the selling process or who to talk to. How do I get a valuation of my company? Where/How do I go about putting it up for sale. Any other info/process I need to know? Any thoughts?

You may want to check out the book, "The Exit Strategy Handbook". It is written specifically for owners of closely held companies and will walk you through the process. It contains lots of checklists and shows you how to put together the right team. I would read the book prior to talking to any brokers. You can find it on Amazon.
Based on my 30 years in the construction industry I would suggest looking for a strategic buyer, i.e. one that is in your business or similar and wants to expand into your geographical area.
(Full disclosure: I'm a partner in the firm that wrote the book, but I get nothing from book sales. It is just a good book)

Robert, I take it that there was a glitch in the BizBuySell system. Your information has now been corrected and I withdraw my complaint. It was apparently no fault of yours. My apologies.

This makes no sense. You say your name is Robert McCormack and that you own a Sign Installation business in Southern California; however, you signed into BizBuySell without registering your name property, and stated that you are Business Broker from Pennsylvania! Why are you jerking people around?
