What type of business and have you approached a bank or do you have banking relationships? What type of collateral can you provide the seller as you are asking the seller to be your bank and creditor. Are you credit worthy? If not, if you have not be responsible with your credit in the past, why should a business owner entrust you with one of the biggest and important investment of their lives? What's your track record of success and what type of business acumen do you possess? I agree with Don, probably better to buy a lottery ticket as 100% owner financing to someone they have no relationship and winning the lottery are a fantasy to most people. 95% of business buyers only fantasize of owning/buying a business.

Most small businesses are sold - rightly or wrongly - on the basis of a multiple of earnings; the multiple can be anywhere from 1.5 to 4 times annual Cash Flow. For you to promise to pay off the Owner within one year is not practical. Nor is giving you the business with 100% owner financing. This is not saying some owner might not do that, but you have a better chance of winning Lotto, in my estimation.
