How hard is it to get a Subway franchise?

I have the funds and a good general working background and education, but no experience in the restaurant business or any other retail or franchise experience. Would I be able to get a Subway franchise?

Sal, there are a whole bunch of them on the market. The problem is Subway controls the use of their name and many brokers and owners can't use the name to advertise them. So look for ads that say #1 sub franchise, etc.

It isn't diffcult to buy them, but my concern is it is dificult to find ones fairly priced. I'm hearing they are selling for 70%+ of annual gross sales. That's no way to price a business.

Always focus on the net income and you can't go wrong. Since these stores are lower risk than some other restaurants, I'd give it a higher multiple than the national average right now of 2.2. Perhaps 3 times?

Pretty hard as there are so many, one on every corner!! Try a deli and/or diner. It's hard work, but good rewards and fun. Plus in the right area it is an excellent investment that will grow. And you can do this anywhere there are people. We doesn't like to eat great food? Also, have 2 possible locations in Florida under a different name that may be available together or separate.

Yes you can get a Subway franchise-if you can find one and have adequate funds, New franchises in LA are reserved for existing owners. Experience and education not so important

Not difficult at all. You have covered a lot of the issues that would seem to qualify you, in your first statement. But think about the fact that Subway franchisees here are not happy about the fact that the market is being saturated by Subways, which in turn reduces the volume of business they can enjoy from their individual operations. This seems to be the big complaint here, in Maryland. It may be completely different in Los Angeles, but I would be careful to look at the issue and make certain of whether that is the best kind of business for you, there.
