Forms needed -- I have someone who wants to buy my business assets. Where can I get legal forms that are good?

Someone wants to buy my business assets. I need good, inexpensive forms that protect both myself and the buyer. They want to buy the assets, clinet base, phone number and part of the name. How do I protect myself and protect them? I can't afford an attorney. I am selling because we are close to bankruptcy and these funds from the buyer will pay off my debts.

This is not the place to be cheap and do it your self. Been their done that and it will coma back and haunt you at some point. Find a lawyer make sure all the business terms are worked out before and do not allow the the lawyer to negotiate on points that have been agreed to. In this day and age NEGOTIATE with the lawyer and CYA COVER YOUR ..... Good Luck

How to Buy a Business

PLEASE DO NOT try to sell your business without proper legal assistance. If you are planning on leaving creditors unpaid after the sale, you are very likely to find yourself in serious legal trouble.

Hi, I wish to sell my business assets as well. Did you place an ad on this message board, or place a business assets for sale ad? If so, did you get many replies? Thanks for the info.

I agree completely with the previous writer. Sometimes, doing something on the cheap can be the most expensive mistake of your life! A good attorney is worth every cent you might pay him or her, especially in the situation in which you apparently find yourself. Check with the BAR Association.

Call your local bar association and ask for a referral. You should be able to get a free consultaion where you can ask these questions. However, I must advise against selling your business without the use of an attorney. Even though there's a cost, there's a much bigger cost if a mistake or misunderstanding is made.
