If you had three or more locations I think you could definitely make money and prosper even if not as side biz.

Notice the critical words "salon as a side biz"!! It's great as a side biz, but can be quite a challenge if it's your main business. Try and link it to another service or product.

As an owner, I would not disagree with the Jan to May "tanning season" but it's not tough to make money year round. The peak season is definitely where you make most of your cash but you still make money in the offseason....just not as much as the peak. We are gearing up for 4th consecutive solid year of growth. We have the salon as a side biz.... it's very manageable as a semi-absentee owner.

Great from Jan/Feb to April/May and then it's pretty bad. A few people tan year round, but not many. It is a great add on to another business, but it is tough to make money on it year round.

Some are better than others. Look into dangers about latest government warnings about skin cancers and other damage. There are some conflicting issues, on this subject.
