It depends. Some older parts are "antiques", and can be worth quite a bit more than newer parts; others are "out of date" or "junk". It can go one way or another. And which way it goes will depend on whether the parts are "new" or salvaged, exactly what kind of parts they are, perhaps whether they are still available from gray market distributors and the models of the cars they fit.

The key is to have the parts completely inventoried, if your Dad has not done that already. Getting a list of that kind is the only way to value the inventory, sell it and get any real money from your perspective, with the sale.
