Can I sell a DBA?

I have a corporation in NC I want to sell but I don't want to sell the name (it has my last name in it "xxxx incorporated" and I am taking the company into a whole different industry). Can I set up a dba and sell it under the dba? Thanks

If you will have a corporation that operates through a DBA, the question is which is the brand under which it is known by the public? With most small businesses, the majority of what you are selling is good will. If you are willing to sell the DBA, and that is what the market knows your business as, tben that is the proper thing to do. No one wants to buy your parent corporation name, unless you are selling the stock; in small businesses, that is a highly unusual move.
