Midas has been offering service to the Idaho Falls area since 1976. The warranty offered by the Franchise is unequal in the industry and is a protected asset by the customer. The owners credit much of their success and strong customer base to the strength and innovation of the Franchise. The royalty charge of 10% on gross sales is equally distributed into advertising. Midas National advertises their services and new product not only on radio and TV but on national sports venues including NASCAR and the NCAA Championship. The Franchise s success has been based on the strength and success of each of the Franchise owners. The Franchise would need to approve a qualified buyer prior to owner disclosure. Eighty percent of the customer base comes from within 50 miles of the Shop. INEEL located west of Idaho Falls employs several thousand people who trust the shop and the warranty offered by the Franchise. The owners have not expanded the customer base beyond the walk-in retail customer. Fleet customers, car dealers, and government agencies could all be contacted for additional sales opportunities. Ninety-nine percent of the vehicles scheduled for service are completed on the scheduled day. The owners are committed to meeting the needs of their customer!! Sales of $500,000 had been the history for several years but the owner has accepted a full time position away form the shop and the lack of active owner management and decline in economy has had a negative impact on sales. Auto repair is one industry that is flagged to have strength as the economy improves.

Facilities: The Idaho Falls location operates with a fully equipped 5,000 SF shop with six bays on the main city lateral with service to Jackson Hole and Yellowstone National Park. Each bay is equipped with electric overhead doors and self-contained hoists that have had excellent maintenance for the full time Midas Experienced ASE certified mechanics.

Growth/Expansion: The Midas Franchise does not require a new franchise owner to be a mechanic but highly recommends that Franchise Owners have some mechanical background and ability to follow the format. The success the current owners have had in the service industry is providing reliable honest service and then standing behind their work. The current owners do not think the business would be as successful with a passively managed operation vs. having hands on owner-manager.
