Business Description

Reduced Price: Merle Norman Cosmetics, Spa & Wigs

Take a look at this well-established Merle Norman Cosmetics studio with a 12-year presence nestled in the heart of Historic Village of Skippack. My studio has been awarded the "Gold Medallion" status for excellence in sales and customer satisfaction since I acquired it from the previous owner in 2008. We've also performed in the TOP 10 studios in my category (non-mall, suburban) year after year.

The studio features the complete line of the Merle Norman brand of skin care and makeup that has been proudly "made in America" for 85 years. We have an established client base that includes many local customers as well as a growing number of mail order clients. (The ladies sometime move out of the area, but they will not give up their Merle Norman products!) How's that for brand loyalty? Hence, we handle a significant number of mail orders annually.

There are 2 additional profit centers that include a Facial Spa room and a private Wig Fitting Studio with more than 70 wigs in stock, adding to a complete one-stop pampering shop for women of all ages.

All furnishings, fixtures, display units are included in the recently reduced asking price of $64,900. Retail inventory remaining at time of sale will be purchased by the new owner at wholesale cost, making this a fabulous turnkey opportunity of just under $85,000*! (*Inventory averages around $20,000 per month, but is variable seasonally. A verifiable physical inventory report will be presented to buyer at time of signing the buying agreement and again at time of final sale. Inventory value at final sale will be paid by the buyer).

Owner is motivated to find the right buyer and is open to negotiate terms of sale to help you acquire this established business with a brand-loyal following. The ideal candidate will bring excellent inter-personal communication skills in working one-on-one with clients interested in quality skin care and makeup. This is a "soft sell" business and sales are best accomplished by educating clients and demonstrating Merle Norman products though our hallmark approach of "try before you buy", which works wonderfully well.

So if you have read thus far and are interested in learning more, please phone me, Jean Curtis, owner, at 610-457-3384 to schedule a mutually convenient appointment to visit my Merle Norman studio in the heart of Historic Skippack Village. Skippack Village is a popular tourist attraction for day-trippers and locals and is home to more than 85 unique boutiques, shops, businesses and restaurants. The appealing location along with my marketing & advertising continues to bring in new and repeat clients year-round.

Any quality brand of skin care and makeup is fair game competition. The large department store beauty counters, chain drug store cosmetic counters, QVC, and the large cosmetic retailers generally found in malls: Ulta and Saphora. Our unique sales proposition is that we are NOT a huge store and we offer personal, professional and non-pushy assistance to our visitors. Personal, friendly service is what keeps clients coming back for our quality products.
Growth & Expansion:
The wig room and facial spa room could possibly be removed by a new owner and that space could be used for merchandising and selling other products, if you wish, such as ladies accessories, lingerie, giftware, apparel, etc. The Merle Norman part of the business must stay and conform to corporate guidelines for studio set up. Since the facility is rented, there is no physical expansion of the building structure available to you. There are, however, several opportunities to expand business hours to increase sales; current hours are Tue - Sat, 10-5.
Support & Training:
Owner will be available to the buyer on site for a period of time, after you have attended Home Office Training for about a week in Los Angeles at the corporate headquarters. The corporate office also has a help desk that you can access for assistance on the spot at any time during business hours. The support system is terrific at Home Office!
Reason for Selling:
I'm ready for the next chapter, which includes retirement & travel!
