The plant buildings are of steel construction with a small office area consisting of four offices, reception area, break room and three bathrooms, one with a shower. The facility consists of 20.66 acres and the following: • a 20,000 sq. ft. shop; • a 20,000 sq. ft. concrete slab for rig up; • a 60,000 sq. ft. stabilized yard; • sand blasting/painting facility with a 40’ x 60’ paint booth; and • a second smaller paint booth.
Since the company does projects all over North America there are obviously a substantial number of competitors. The key to being successful, as discussed previously is to maintain a high quality product, great customer service and establish a fair pricing structure. Most client companies value a solid and reliable relationship with their fabrication company and will not change suppliers without the supplier giving them a reason to leave. They count on getting quality fabrication products on time. Errors cost their clients’ money and lost time, something they can’t have.
Growth & Expansion:
The market for the company’s services has been very strong over the last 53 years. They have weathered several severe economic downturns and have done very well throughout the most recent economic slowdown by increasing revenue from $1,462,000 to $1,799,000 over the last three fiscal years. This was done in spite of the company having no significant marketing program to bring on new customers. There is plenty of room for additional work and more projects. The owner estimates the plant is currently operating at 25%-30% of capacity. This lack of a marketing program represents a significant up-side opportunity for increased revenue and profit growth. There exist significant opportunities that could be leveraged by advertising in industry specific publications, attending industry trade shows and focusing on companies within the target industries with an aggressive direct marketing campaign. The addition of an outside, or at minimum, an inside sales force could pay significant dividends. This would also free up the management of the company to focus on production while the sales staff focuses their 100% efforts on finding new customers. Combined with the an aggressive marketing campaign, the development of a new web site and the use of social media also represent additional client/revenue generation avenues worth pursuing. The company currently provides no engineering services. This could be another source of potential revenue for a buyer with the right skill set.
Support & Training:
Included in the sales price the seller will provide 8 weeks of training at 32 hours per week. The owner will train the buyer for the agreed to transition period and will consider additional training at terms to be negotiated.
Reason for Selling:
The owner is in her mid-seventies and wants to retire.
