The staff is well trained and experienced. This location is profitable year after year with a proven sales record built around strong marketing, advertising and an extremely loyal customer base. This adds up to a unique opportunity for a buyer to come into a profitable, desirable, popular and well maintained store.

A testament to the loyal customer base is the nearly 2,000 Facebook followers and over 7,500 people signed up for email distributions and nearly 8,500 contacts on Signpost messaging service. The buyer will be able to reach customers through these established methods with specials, promotions and coupons. More customers are joining our network each day by adding emails to the database and offering an opportunity for them to opt in. Facilities:
Once Upon A Child is in the best location the Quad Cities has to offer. Situated at the corner of 53rd and Elmore, this store is in the premiere shopping area in the market. Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Kohl's, Staples, Sam's Club are all nearby as well as many of the areas top restaurants. This is an extremely high traffic location for both cars and foot traffic. Everyone knows this shopping area so customers are able to easily locate our store. This location opened in 2008 at very opportune time. The store is located in Pheasant Creek Crossing which has no vacancies and a waiting list of tenants wanting to move in. In addition there is a multi-million dollar casino opening soon approximately 1.5 miles from the store. Elmore will be the main access road which is sure to increase visibility to even more potential customers coming from throughout Iowa and Illinois.
Competition:
Once Upon A Child Davenport has the corner on the children's resale market. The exceptional business model provided with the Once Upon A Child franchise is superior to anything another consignment or resale store could offer so there is no competition. This business is designed for high volume sales at great margins. This is not a mom and pop type resle store. Once Upon A Child is the only store in the Quad City area specializing in children's clothing, toys and equipment. We are the only store that offers the customer a cash payment on the spot for the items they bring in. This is our point of difference and a big reason why our customers love selling to us. There's no other children's store in the area where customers can bring in items, the store chooses the items they want to buy and they offer cash payment for them right on the spot. This is all possible through the proprietary software system provided by Winmark Corporation, the franchisor. Consignment stores cannot compete with this which makes Once Upon A Child the superior option in the Quad Cities market.
Growth & Expansion:
Major opportunity exists to increase sales in two distinct ways - hands on ownership and physically expanding the square footage of the store. An active owner will benefit the store in several ways. With daily involvement in the business, the owner can reduce staff wages resulting in increased owner profitability. This would also improve employee management they would be present to assist in customer service, buying merchandise, increased involvement in store promotions and working with the Once Upon A Child Marketing Department and media buyer to manage and monitor the advertising plan whether it's social media, TV, radio, newspaper and email campaigns. Store Expansion. Due to the small footprint of 2,400 square feet half of the available inventory is on the sales floor and the other half is at two offsite storage facilities. Sales could easily double if the new owner has an opportunity to expand the size of the store. The current size limits the inventory on the floor and potential sales opportunities are missed as thousands of items are in storage before they make it to the sales floor. The business model buys all seasons of inventory all the time so managing the back stock process is important to keep the inventory flowing. A larger footprint would allow for more merchandise on the sales floor which should result in a dramatic increase in sales.
Support & Training:
Training provided and required by franchisor upon transfer. On-going support in advertising, merchandising, financial and inventory management, social media training and more provided by franchisor through field visits, regional meetings and national franchisee conferences. Very few franchisees come from a retail background so the training programs are very comprehensive and thorough.
Reason for Selling:
Relocating to Des Moines
