Unique opportunity to market and sell a newly redesigned ukulele chord changer, as well as other ukulele products. The ukulele chord changer, also known as a uke player attachment, is being manufactured in the USA (provisional patent) and sold online through the company website (www.ukechordchanger.com), Amazon, and Ebay. The company website is built on the Weebly e-commerce web platform.
Product History: Newly redesigned from a smaller 1940's Arthur Godfrey Uke Player attachment, the owner works with a U.S. manufacturer to produce an 8 chord plastic ukulele attachment. Simply press the buttons and strum and you can play the ukulele in four different keys: C, F, G, and D. Aside from the eight chord buttons, a few other chords are available by combining two buttons at the same time. Between the Godfrey model and a similar Maccaferri model, many millions of these chord changers were sold in the 1940's and 1950's. The ukulele has experienced a worldwide revival over the past few years and this product needs a business owner who can dedicate the time and energy to promoting it through social media, uke stores, uke websites, gift catalogs, and at uke events/clubs. This product especially appeals to those who may have trouble learning the fingering for the ukulele (the elderly, those with arthritis, young children, etc), or anyone who simply wants to enjoy the ukulele right away without lessons. Under the business name Troubadour Music, the owner has sold 500 units worldwide—to Canada, Africa, Norway, England, Australia, Argentina, France, Germany, Israel, and the USA. Sales include to individuals, stores, summer camps, and schools for the blind. Included with the chord changer is a new deluxe lay-flat uke songbook containing music and words for 90 songs of all genres. The books cost $5 each to print and the chord changers about $6 including the rubber straps. The owner has been selling the two items together for $25 plus postage.

Growth & Expansion: Pros: one of a kind product (provisional patent) with tremendous growth potential when paired with the right marketing to reach target audiences. This is a start up opportunity for a buyer interested in launching a new product.
Cons: Need to expand upon and build market for this product, as most people interested in playing the uke are not aware that a chord changer is available and do not know to search for it online or in stores.
Reason for Selling: Owner is selling the business to care for her husband, who has health issues.
Home-Based: This business
